Replacing the heater valve - Fiat 124 Spider

Replacing the heating valve – FIAT 124 Spider

Required parts:

  • 1x heating valve (incl. 2 seals) – item no. 1160095
  • 1x short heating pipe – item no. 1160060 or 1160169 (Premium)

Method:

First, drain the cooling system and ensure that the coolant level is below the level of the heater pipes. Now remove the heating valve from the heater cooler/heat exchanger through the passenger footwell.

Now remove the short heating pipe. If your car still had the original heater valve (one with an integrated capillary tube), when installing the new valve, the short tube will need to be bent about 10 degrees so that it faces the correct direction. Or you can purchase our new heater pipe (1160060 or 1160169) which is suitable for the newer heater valves.

Now install the heating pipe on the valve and put it back on the heat exchanger. Try to guide the pipe back through the rubber grommet on the bulkhead and, if necessary, bend the pipe in the appropriate direction until the heating valve can be installed flush on the heat exchanger.

The original heating valve with the integrated capillary tube was discontinued about 20 years ago and replaced by this version, which was originally installed in the 124 Berlina and the X 1/9.
