For perfect engine performance, the thermostat must be switched on and off at the prescribed water temperatures.bsIf the thermostatic valve starts to open at a lower temperature, it is difficult to reach the operating temperature of the engine, whereas if the thermostatic valve opens at a higher temperature, i.e. too late, the engine tends to overheat.
After installing the thermostat, it is essential to bleed the cooling system (see installation instructions)!
The thermostat starts to open at 81°-85° C and must be fully open at 92° C . The path of the thermostatic valve, i.e. the temperature, must be adjusted accordingly.
The travel of the thermostat valve until it is fully open(92° C) is 7.5 mm.

Bleeding the cooling system:
To bleed the cooling system, the engine must be cold and the heating switched on.
Jack up the front of the car so that the wheels are about 20 cm in the air.
Two hoses are connected to the T-piece at the front end of the engine block. Loosen the clamp on the right-hand hose (in the direction of travel) and insert a screwdriver between the T-piece and the end of the hose to create a small opening. Now fill the radiator with cold water until no more air escapes from the opening, only water. Now start to squeeze the radiator hoses slightly bit by bit to remove the last air bubbles here as well. You can then pull out the screwdriver and tighten the clamp again.
Now close the radiator and lower the car back down at the front. Start the engine and let it run until the thermostat opens and the fan starts.
